I may not be able to start over, but I CAN start now.
Everything starts somewhere. So to give you an idea of where I was at before I started this blog and one year challenge I’ll give you the short and sweet version. Here are my top three reasons:
- I’m a health professional, and I own my own massage studio in downtown Vancouver, Canada (www.nicolevandamme.com). I make it my business to promote health and wellness every single day…mentally, physically, and spiritually. Late last November my poor lifestyle habits and choices caught up with me though, and started presenting health challenges. To see me I look relatively healthy, but in all honesty I’m not. Truthfully, I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired. Not only that, but for integrity’s sake, if I promote health and wellbeing, I better darn well be an example of it. Time to walk the walk.
- I’m tired of dating the same old, same old. Same approach, same type, same results…like clockwork every time. Einstein said it best, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results.” Well my friends, I’ve been living that definition to the “T” for the past 30 years. One would think that perhaps I would have figured it out sooner, but no. Lesson continued until a lesson learned. Well, NOW I’m truly ready for something different. I understand that the “same old, same old” had nothing to do with the guys I dated. Nope. If I were honest with myself I would have realized that I AM the only common denominator. So what does that mean? It means that the problem is not OUT THERE, but rather IN HERE *points to self*. Translation: if I want something different to show up, I too must show up differently.
- I've always wanted to do something that matters, contribute to the betterment of our society, make a BIG impact and difference in this world...to leave a positive lasting legacy. In writing and sharing candidly my experiences, I hope to inspire my world of possibilities and create positive change.
So now that you know my all important “why”, my motivating factors, stay tuned for my “what” – my goals and aspirations for the year. They are p-r-e-t-t-y BIG!
